IPL Therapy

restore your natural beauty

Are you suffering from brown spots on your face? Have you noticed any skin pigmentation problems occurring? Sun damage can make your skin appear more dull and contribute to the loss of a brilliant-looking countenance. Your skin texture and tone may also change subtly or drastically leaving an uneven and unwanted appearance.

IPL therapy was designed specifically to address skin conditions like discoloration, marks, and skin pigmentation. Destin Medical Spa will help you regain your original, beautiful skin. We are a reputed Viora™ IPL therapy provider in Santa Rosa Beach, FL. Our primary aesthetic physician, Dr. Amber Wiebe, has worked with hundreds of clients, restoring their natural beauty through timely treatment.

What is IPL therapy?

As we expose our skin to the sun, it undergoes a process called photoaging. Here, the skin becomes older, more leathery, wrinkly, and discolored because of the excessive heat from the sun. If you don’t use sunblock, photoaging happens more severely and faster.

IPL therapy is the ideal treatment for photoaging. IPL stands for Intense Pulsed Light. The Viora™ IPL therapy (also known as “photo facial”) is a cosmetic procedure that uses laser pulses of different frequencies to get rid of blemishes from your skin. The heat from the laser pulses destroys the damaged skin cells, which cause pigmentation, marks, and poor texture. The different frequencies ensure that both surface level and deeper layers of the skin are effectively treated.

Once the older cells are destroyed, the younger and healthier cells start producing more collagen and elastin, and this makes your skin look tighter and fuller. Once the IPL therapy is complete, you’ll have a noticeable improvement in your skin.

IPL isn’t just beneficial in reducing skin damage. Often, hormonal changes can lead to discoloration of the skin or onset of blemishes, and IPL therapy is immensely helpful in tackling hormone-driven skin tone changes as well.

Research has proven that IPL therapy can reduce skin redness by 50% to 75% and sun damage by 70% in most patients.

Conditions that can be addressed with Viora™ IPL therapy

IPL therapy is super effective in reducing the appearance of:

• Brown spots
• Hyperpigmentation
• Freckles
• Birthmarks
• Broken vessels or spider veins in the face and neck
• Fine lines & mild wrinkles

Any adult can undergo  IPL therapy without worrying about their skin health.

IPL is very safe and skin-friendly. However, just like other laser cosmetic treatments, IPL therapy may not be the right choice for you if you:

• Have skin conditions or infections.
• Are on blood thinners and immune suppressants.
• Have an immune system condition that prevents healing.
• Are pregnant or breastfeeding your baby.
• Are getting radiation treatment.
• Have recently undergone other laser treatments for your skin.
• Have recently got a tan or a chemical peel.

Our aesthetic physician Dr. Amber Wiebe will be able to evaluate your cosmetic needs and your medical history. She will create a customized treatment plan to suit your needs. If IPL therapy isn’t right for you, she can suggest an alternative treatment that can offer you similar results. We have remedies that will give you the results you are looking for to treat skin pigmentation at Destin Medical Spa.

IPL therapy at Destin Medical Spa with the
state-of-the-art V-IPL Handpiece

At Destin Medical Spa, we use the Viora V-IPL Handpiece to provide the IPL therapy. The Viora V-IPL Handpiece uses a proprietary PCRTM(Pulse Control Rhythm) technology, which allows us to offer the most-focused treatment.

The handpiece comes with two different filters, designed for both light and dark skin tones. The device has two surfaces – one large and one small – which can be used depending on the size of the area being treated. The smaller surface is excellent for treating the face, while the larger can be used to treat the neck. The Viora V-IPL Handpiece comes with specialized cooling technology that cools the surface of your skin during IPL therapy. This way, you don’t have to worry about blisters and burns.

Before starting the procedure, we cleanse your skin to remove any impurities. We apply a numbing agent to the skin to reduce any pain from the treatment. Once you’re numbed, you’ll barely feel the laser, as the beams will feel like tiny pricks on the skin.

Then, we will use the Viora V-IPL Handpiece to provide IPL therapy. The entire procedure may take up to two hours, depending on the areas you wish to treat. Usually, you need to undergo 2 to 3 sessions, spaced a week apart, to achieve the most optimum results.

What happens after IPL therapy?

After the procedure, your skin will feel a bit sore. There may be minor inflammation and bruising as well. Your skin may look sunburnt for a few hours, and you may think that the discoloration is worse than before, but don’t worry, these symptoms will go away in about a day.

We prescribe a special lotion to soothe and heal your skin.

You will need to use this regularly for a month, along with sunscreen SPF30+, with radiation blocking ingredients like zinc.

You should avoid cosmetics for the first 24 hours. When you start using skin-friendly make-up again, use a non-abrasive cleanser to clean it off.

You may experience minor skin flaking as the patches of discolored skin and damaged/old skin start to peel off, but the flaking will stop in a few days. At Destin Medical Spa, we have a fully-equipped medspa to provide premium-quality IPL therapy. Contact us today to schedule the treatment with Dr. Amber Wiebe. When it comes to conditions like skin pigmentation, Destin Medical Spa delivers results. We welcome patients from Crestview, Santa Rosa Beach, Niceville, Fort Walton, Freeport, Valparaiso, Navarre, and Panama City Beach.
